Quit Smoking this Christmas with the E-cig
Without a shadow of doubt millions of smokers around the world will be making the traditional New Year’s pledge of ‘Quit Smoking’. Some are successful, other’s last a week or so and some don’t even last a day. News and press releases from around the globe inform the public of a new solution which is rapidly growing in popularity among young and old alike. This of course is the electronic cigarette concept.
The electronic cigarette was and still is promoted as an alternative smoking product and a solution to the smoking ban. However, smokers are adopting the give up smoking route the easy way by using the e-cigarette. The are subtle differences between a traditional cigarette and an electronic cig but overall the e-cigarette is the most realistic alternative available.
The tobacco smoke found in normal cigarettes is replaced by a mist of vapor. Nicotine is still provided by inhaling from the filter or cartridge and can provide a significant hit to prevent cravings. There is a taste of tobacco and sweetness without the dry throat and ashtray mouth. Above all it provides the exact effects of a normal cigarette without passive smoke or air pollution.
Like everything else, once something becomes popular the market becomes flooded with cheap imitations and rip-offs. There are many poor quality e-cigarettes for sale. Don’t fall into the ‘Free Trial’ trap pushed by these con artists who hide just how much it really does cost. Don’t sign up for these ‘Free E-Cigarette Trials’ online or in shopping centres, it will cost you more money. Instead, pay up front from a real electronic cigarette suppier and know what you are paying for.
Disposable electronic cigarettes are growing in popularity. These are suitable for a night out as a temporary smoking in public solution. If you are looking at ditching tobacco on a more long-term basis then invest in a proper kit. The VIP Electronic Cigarette No3 Kit comes with everything you need to quit normal cigarettes and smoke a realistic substitute. The VIP003 is supplied with a mixture of 10 cartridges (approx 150 cigs) to help the smoker decide which nicotine level and strength they prefer. (I recommend the High Strength for regular smokers). Replacement cartridges can be purchased for £9.99 for a box of 10. This kit will make the ideal Xmas present for a smoker.

Quitting Smoking and Weight Gain Issues
Studies have previously shown when someone quits smoking tobacco they are 85% more likely to gain weight. On occasions weight significantly increases when food, usually high in calories, is substituted for cigarettes. Ex-smokers often complain of hunger pangs believing that cigarettes were either an aid to slimming or helped to take the urge to eat away.
In most cases ex-smokers are simply looking for something to replace the tobacco habit. Quitting tobacco and using an electronic cigarette in place could reduce the risk of gaining weight by simulating the tobacco smoking habit. The traditional taste of tobacco and a controlled nicotine burst are inhaled through a vapor mist much the same as real cigarette. The smoking habit can be enjoyed in a safer way and may prevent the urge to binge eat.

The VIP003 Starter Kit contains everything needed to make the switch from tobacco.
According to VIP, it is now on offer at 1/2 the recommened retail price.
The kit contains 2 rechargeable cigarette batteries, 1 atomizer, mains charger, usb charger, information card, instructions, 1 year warranty and 10 cartridges providing equiv of 150 tobacco cigarettes.
You can pick up a Electronic Cigarette starter kit direct from VIP and save £25-£30 off the high street price.

MPs Approve Vending Ban
MPs gave the go ahead for the removal of cigarette vending machines. The move ot outlaw cigarette vending machines in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is welcomed by health campaigners but not by pubs and patrons.
The leisure trade has suffered significantly since the smoking ban was introduced with an estimated 65% loss of trade since 2007 which has led to the closure of bars and clubs throughout the UK.
Tory backbencher Philip Davies said: “This is the nanny state gone mad. On every conceivable level this particular ban is wrong.
“It goes against the principle of individual responsibility, free choice and people making their own decisions.”
Mr Davies said it was “completely false” to suggest people would be more likely to buy cigarettes because they were displayed in shops.
He argued: “As someone who was a retailer for 12 years, can I tell you that tobacco is not an impulse purchase in the same way that cream cakes are.”
It seems the government still want the huge revenue from tobacco sales however.
Electronic cigarette companies have been trying to spread awareness to the food and drink industry. It has been predicted that leisure outlets adopting and promoting the e-cigarette will see financial benefits as smoking customers return and the trade figures of pre-2007 resumes.
Smoking an e-cigarette inside a pub or even food establishment is legal. Even though good quality electronic cigarettes, such as VIP, taste and perform remarkably like a real tobacco cigarette they are not lit or give off passive smoke. Due to the way an e-cigarette works it is not banned under the UK smoking ban.

Recent Arrests Over Contraband Tobacco
Rise in tobacco smuggling arrests.
HM Customs have confiscated 930kg of suspected smuggled tobacco at a Dorset port.
HM Officers found the large haul of tobacco hidden in a van arriving on a ferry from in Spain, at Poole Ferry Terminal on Monday. It is estimated the street value of the seized tobacco would fetch in excess of £105,000.
Two people were arrested on Saturday in connection with an attempt to smuggle 400kg (882lbs) of tobacco into Plymouth Ferry Port. The pair, arriving from France, were interviewed by HM Revenue and Customs and released on police bail until 26 January.
Tobacco seized in the search was enough to make approximately 800,000 cigarettes.
No Tobacco Smoking urges people NOT to support the tobacco smuggling trade. When you buy smuggled cigarettes you may be indirectly funding prostitution, drug trafficking, people smuggling or even worse, terrorism. The people behind tobacco smuggling are not doing it for your benefit and they do not care if you live or die smoking illegal and often dangerous counterfeit cigarettes manufactured from condemned tobacco sweepings.
If you enjoy smoking but are no long able to afford tobacco, try an electronic cigarette. It works out cheaper than tobacco smoking, but more surprisingly, is cheaper than smoking counterfeit cigarettes. E-cigarettes provide comparable smoking to 20 tobacco cigs cost only £1.60. Yes.. that is just £1.60 for a pack of cigs!

Illegal Tobacco Sold to Children
Child Smokers Hooked on Illegal Tobacco Sold from ‘Tab Houses’.
Trading Standards officials said 30% of young people admitted buying cheap and illicit tobacco – much of which has been smuggled into the country.
The cigarettes are sold from private homes in deprived areas with no age checks, creating a new generation of smokers struggling in the economic climate, it is claimed.
Richard Ferry, from Trading Standards North East, told the BBC: “About 30% of under 18s admit to buying cheap and illicit tobacco.
Tobacco smuggling is thought to cost the UK economy about £3bn a year in lost tax revenue.
There are three types of illegal cigarettes or “tabs” sold:
• Duty free cigarettes
• Counterfeit versions
• “Cheap whites”
Duty free cigarettes are regular cigarettes sold for personal use. Often holidaymakers who do not smoke use their personal duty-free allowance to buy cartons of cigarettes for friends and loved ones. Many people do this without even realising they are breaking the law. Smuggled tobacco also falls under this category. Genuine duty-free tobacco tends to fetch a higher price even when sold illegally.
Counterfeit versions of famous brands often come from east european countries now operating freely within EU borders, but the primary target has always been the UK due to the excessive tax paid on cigarettes. These types of cigarettes may look similar on the outside but the moment the cigarette is lit it becomes clear that it is a fake. Tobacco quality and contents may not just be of inferior quality but contain even more toxins and chemicals than the 4000 currently found in branded cigarettes.
‘Whites’ are produced only for sale on the black market. They may well have printed packaging and labels featuring a brand name no one has ever heard of. These cigarettes will often be made from sweepings of low-grade tobacco and even contaminated unfit for use tobacco leaf. Smoking these often have immediate side effect such as irritated throat, wheezy cough, head aches and nausea. The have often have strong smell when smoked. Whites are typically sold for half the price of genuine cigarettes.
The electronic cigarette can work out 70% cheaper than smoking branded cigarettes - making them even cheaper than counterfeit or ‘whites’. Smokers who want to save money should look at the real alternatives instead of settling for poor quality dangerous tobacco.

Electronic Cigarette Myths and Facts
Due to so much misinformation circulating on the internet here are a few quick myths and facts about the electronic or e-cigarette.
MYTH : Electronic cigarettes are intended for kids.
Anti-smoking groups come out with blanket statements such as this with no evidence and submitted for press distribution in the hope of gaining attention and public backing. Every commercial electronic cigarette web site of any worth would not sell cigarettes or nicotine based products to minors. The electronic cigarette is really an alternative smoking product even though some use it as a cessation aid. What would be the benefit in promoting this product to kids? None. The truth is that kids are more likely to smoke a real cigarette at school or with friends. It is highly unlikely a child is going to spend their own pocket money online to buy electronic cigarettes.
FACT : Electronic cigarettes are not banned under the Health Act.
Due to how an electronic cigarette is smoked and what it contains, it is perfectly legal to smoke inside pubs, bars, night clubs, cinemas, casinos, offices and airports. It is even promoted and sold in some venues to bypass the smoking ban and retain customers. More nightclubs and pubs are catching on, slowly, to how the electronic cigarette works and the benefits of promoting its use. VIP also provide an information card in starter kits which you can carry and show interested parties if confronted.
MYTH : The electronic cigarette is just for nerds.
I like this statement…. I don’t think I have ever been described as a nerd before. Usually two types of people make such insulting statements. The first being the very, very stupid. The second have either been misinformed or are ignorant of what the electronic cigarette is. If you go out in to the street and ask 10 random people what is the electronic cigarette, 9 will probably say they have never heard of it. ‘Nerds’ may buy the electronic cigarette along with old people, models, actors, the obese and Md’s. A broad spectrum of people choose to smoke the e-cigarette for a variety of reasons, from saving money to quitting tobacco.
FACT : An electronic cigarette is cheaper than tobacco.
Guessing it depends on the brand of electronic cigarette…. the one I use and recommend is certainly cheaper. ALL the electronic cigarette companies I have compared are cheaper than buying tobacco cigarettes and I think even work out cheaper than duty free cigarettes. The average price of cartridges equal to approximately 140-150 tobacco cigarettes is around £10. This price is based on cartridges which have a genuine taste and last longer. That’s a cheaper and healthier way to smoke .

Anti-Smoking Health Bill 2009
New measures may be inforced to prevent people from taking up smoking.
“Smokefree North West welcomed a vote by MPs in Parliament to introduce new regulations that will see the removal of cigarettes and tobacco from display at the point of sale as well as cigarette vending machines as part of the Health Bill 2009.” Chesterfirst.
The big question the general public would like to know is why has it taken so long? This could also be seen as further government control and restriction over our day-to-day lives by not allowing people freedom of choice.
Removing a vending machines from pubs for example seems logical as smoking is banned inside the pub. However, smokers can smoke outside. If pubs are forced to remove vending machines this will simply enrage customers who smoke further and in turn business will suffer. The removal of a vending machine will not stop someone from taking up smoking, but will prevent a smoker’s access to cigarettes.
Hopefully more pubs will start selling electronic cigarettes over the counter. Pubs throughout the country are slowly catching on to the idea of keeping customers happy and allowed electronic cigarette smoking. The UK Smoking Ban does not affect electronic cigarettes and they can be smoked virtually anywhere a normal cigarette is prohibited including pubs, cinemas, cafes, restaurants, offices and airport lounges.
Someone can use electronic cigarette in the pub and not have to step outside. Pub owners should be looking towards the holiday season and stock up on disposable electronic cigarettes. A happy customer spends more money afterall…

Lowest Cost Disposable Electronic Cigarette
The lowest priced electronic cigarette on the market. VIP have dropped the price of the Disposable Electronic Cigarette down to just £7.99 and including FREE Delivery. This cigarette is perfect for nights out in town.
This is far cheaper than other companies which stick high delivery charges on top increasing the overall cost . It is not only the cheapest but in my opinion best value disposable personal vapor product available in terms of performance and price.
A Disposable Electronic Cigarette is a little different from the normal e-cigarette. There is no rechargeable battery or replacement parts. It simply comes fully charged ready to smoke. Battery life should be good for around 40-60 cigarettes worth. Cartridges tend to last up to the equivalent of 40 cigarette smokes. These budget cigarettes are great when you are on the move or don’t have time to charge your usual cigarette.
I recommend that anyone who smokes, buys one of these just to try smoking with an e-cigarette. Pick a Disposable Cigarette up here.

The electronic cigarette really works!
I am seeing more and more positive feedback since my first article about how I quit tobacco while using an electronic cigarette. Other e-cigarette smokers seem eager to share their experiences too. Apart from poor quality copies and some brands using inferior batteries most electronic cigarette reviews have been good.
From a vapor (e-cigarette) smoker
I love using my e-cig. I quit tobacco (analog) cigarettes within a week of buying my electronic cigarette. It has saved me £100’s of pounds since swapping and I get the benefit of smoking without making everyone else breath tobacco smoke because there is no passive smoke from the e-cig.
I have the VIP003 starter kit and usually keep a VIPDIS001 Disposable Electronic Cigarette for emergencies. I bought mine direct from www.vipelectroniccigarette.co.uk even though I could get them locally. My local market did sell these but they were over double the price. I use the high strength tobacco flavored cartridges and personally think they are far smoother tasting than real cigarettes. Cartridges cost around £10 for 10. Just 1 cartridge provides around 10-15 regular smokes.

Electronic Cigarette or Champix
I have personally used both Champix and the electronic cigarette. My stance is quite clear on which I feel is safer both physically and mentally to ditch tobacco. The electronic cigarette is a hands down winner. I suffered too many side effects with Champix and it just didn’t work.
Despite my lack of success many people have used Champix and quit. But there is a darker side to this cessation approved product that is not so widely publicised. Champix can kill.
Taken from the Truth Will Out blog
“It’s not just doctors that are failing to warn smokers about the more deadly serious side-effects of Champix/Chantix. The so-called “public health charity” Action on Smoking and Health (A.S.H.) have conspicuously failed to update their advice to smokers and health professionals in the light of all the horror-stories over the past eighteen months, choosing instead to take their lead from N.I.C.E., the National Institute for Clinical Excellence, who don’t seem to have updated their recommendations about Champix since 2007.”
Using an electronic cigarette to quit smoking was a matter of personal choice and experimenting with the other options available. It was a choice I’m glad I made.
There are many electronic cigarette companies springing up all over the place. Some are offering good deals but selling poor quality goods – faulty batteries, contaminated cartridges and kits with missing items.
My personal preference is the VIP No.3 kit complete with UK mains charger, usb charger, two rechargeable batteries, atomizer, 10 cartridges, instructions and 1 year warranty! Cartridges work out at £1 and 1 cartridge equals about 10-15 normal cigarettes in terms of how long they last.
Pick a starter kit up directly from the main VIP supplier and don’t forget to order enough cartridges to last you a full month.
